- From Homelessness to Hope: The Inspiring Journey of 'Dream' Starring Park Seo-joon and IU 목차
South Korean director Lee Byung-hun, best known for the blockbuster hit "Extreme Job" (16.26 million viewers), is back with another captivating film titled "Dream." The movie, set to be released on April 26, follows the heartwarming journey of a group of homeless soccer players, led by the character played by singer and actress IU, as they pursue their seemingly impossible dreams.
Park Seo-joon, who has been making waves with his recent projects like "Lion," "Youth Police," the drama "Itaewon Class," and his first Hollywood film "The Marbles," takes on the role of Hongdae, a rough but compassionate soccer team manager. His character is forced to leave his professional career behind due to a crisis and takes on the challenge of coaching a homeless soccer team.
IU, who has already captured viewers' hearts with her performances in "My Mister" and "Hotel Del Luna," is recognized for her delicate acting skills in her commercial film debut "Broker," which debuted at the Cannes International Film Festival. In "Dream," she plays a realistic character with a strong expressive power, helping to bring the story to life.
The production of "Dream" aimed to accurately represent the actual Homeless World Cup held worldwide. The creative team drew inspiration from the 2010 Homeless World Cup held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, known for its colorful design and festive atmosphere. Filming for the World Cup scenes took place in Budapest, Hungary, at a special stadium, and various events modeled after the 2015 Homeless World Cup in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
A total of 15 shoots were conducted over a month to achieve the desired level of realism, with a crew of 60 domestic staff members and 108 local Hungarian staff. The result is a film that showcases the inspiring journey of homeless individuals overcoming their frustrations and finding new hopes and dreams through the unifying power of soccer.
Audiences can look forward to the on-location filming in Budapest and the reenactment of scenes from the 2010 Homeless World Cup in Brazil. With its heartfelt story and stellar performances, "Dream" promises to be a must-watch film this season. Mark your calendars for April 26 and get ready to be inspired.
