- J-Hope to Enlist in South Korea's 36th Division Boot Camp 목차
BTS member J-Hope, 29, (real name Jung Ho-seok) is set to enlist in the South Korean military on April 18th, according to sources from the military and related industries. J-Hope will be joining the 36th Division boot camp in Wonju, Gangwon Province, for his initial training.
The 36th Division, also known as the "Baekho Division," will provide J-Hope with five weeks of basic training before deploying him to a frontline unit. The star recently completed his request to postpone enlistment at the end of February and has since been preparing for his military service. In a nod to his upcoming service, J-Hope unveiled a new, shorter haircut.
J-Hope's enlistment follows fellow BTS member Jin, who began his military service in December of last year as part of the 5th Division. In line with Jin's enlistment, J-Hope's camp has confirmed that there will be no separate enlistment ceremony.
As South Korean law requires all able-bodied men to complete approximately two years of military service before the age of 28, the remaining members of BTS are expected to follow suit and enlist sequentially after J-Hope. Big Hit Music, the agency representing BTS, has expressed their hopes for the group to resume full activities as a complete unit in 2025.
The enlistment of J-Hope and the rest of BTS comes amidst the group's unprecedented global success. The septet has garnered numerous accolades and awards, including multiple Billboard Music Awards and American Music Awards, and has broken records with their albums and singles. Fans worldwide eagerly await the group's return to the stage as a complete unit after their military service obligations have been fulfilled.
