Kia has unveiled its flagship electric SUV, the EV9, featuring a 99.8kWh battery that aims to deliver more than 500km of driving range on a single charge, according to domestic certification standards. The EV9 is the second model built on Kia's dedicated Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and emphasizes the company's vision for sustainability and innovative transportation experiences.
The automaker released a 'World Premiere' video on its global brand site, showcasing the EV9's various features, including EV-optimized body design, advanced driver assistance systems, and autonomous driving capabilities. Kia is targeting customers interested in cutting-edge technologies and new experiences with the EV9.
Song Ho-seong, president of Kia, stated, "Kia, which launched a new brand in 2021, has made great efforts to develop products that inspire customers as well as services and solutions that add meaning to their relationships with customers." He further added, "We will lead the upcoming era of electrification through the EV9, which has been prepared for a long time based on Kia’s legacy.”
The EV9 boasts a stunning design, blending contrasting shapes in harmony with its Opposite United design principle. It also marks the first application of Kia's '3-Stage Sustainable Design Strategy'. The vehicle offers various flagship features, such as auto flush outside handles, digital side and center mirrors, Meridian premium sound system, built-in cam 2, digital key 2, and a front trunk with an electronic hood latch.
Kia will offer four different lineups, starting with the EV9 (2WD/4WD) and later adding the GT-line and high-performance GT models. The automaker plans to accept pre-orders for the EV9 (2WD/4WD) during the second quarter for domestic customers.
With the introduction of the EV9, Kia aims to lead the electric vehicle market by providing innovative spaces and driving experiences while prioritizing sustainability and advanced technology.
