Acclaimed South Korean actor Choi Min-sik has been chosen as the main honoree for the Actor Special Exhibition at the 27th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN). The event's organizers praised Choi as the "representative face of Korean cinema" and recognized his contributions to the industry's growth through his diverse and powerful performances.
The Actor Special Exhibition will feature a master class, publication of a special booklet, mega talk (GV), and screenings of Choi Min-sik's most iconic works, handpicked by the actor himself. Choi has garnered critical acclaim and audience appreciation for his versatile acting skills, which have been pivotal in the resurgence and flourishing of Korean cinema.
Throughout his illustrious career, Choi has received numerous awards, including three Grand Bell Awards, three Baeksang Arts Awards, three Blue Dragon Film Awards, and three Korean Film Critics Association Awards, totaling over 30 acting awards. His films have also achieved box office success, with 'Shiri' setting a record in 1999 and 'Myeongryang' holding the top spot for a decade as of May 2023.
Choi Min-sik's filmography spans a wide range of roles, from his debut in 'Guro Arirang' (1989) to recent performances in 'The Mathematician in Wonderland' (2022).
