Four of the five members of the popular South Korean girl group Apink are making a significant change in their careers. Park Cho-rong, Yoon Bo-mi, Kim Nam-joo, and Oh Ha-young have decided not to renew their contracts with their current agency, IST Entertainment. Instead, they will be joining Choi Creative Lab for their future endeavors.

IST Entertainment announced the news on April 28th, stating that after several discussions, the decision was made for the four members to part ways with the agency. However, Jung Eun-ji, who has an acting career alongside her Apink activities, will remain with IST Entertainment. The agency expressed their support for Eun-ji, revealing that she will be participating in an upcoming project.

 

Despite the shift in agencies, Apink's group activities will continue without disbanding. IST Entertainment confirmed this, emphasizing that the commitment to maintain team activities had been made regardless of the contract status.

The four departing members have already secured their new home at Choi Creative Lab, a company specializing in character licensing led by Chairman Choi Shin-kyu, the founder of Sonokong. The agency recently announced the hiring of Kang Jong-wan, former director of DSP Media, in an effort to expand into the entertainment field.

Choi Creative Lab is excited to welcome Park Cho-rong, Yoon Bo-mi, Kim Nam-joo, and Oh Ha-young, and plans to fully support their individual and Apink team activities starting from May.

 

Apink, who debuted in 2011, has a history of hit songs like "Mr. Chu" and "NoNoNo." They recently released their 10th mini-album, "SELF." The group members had previously re-signed contracts with IST Entertainment twice, in 2017 and 2021. Original members Hong Yoo-kyung and Son Na-eun left the team in 2013 and last year, respectively.
