- Disney Korea Brings Star Wars Day Festivities to Jeonju International Film Festival 목차
The Walt Disney Company Korea, or Disney Korea, is gearing up to host a series of events at the 24th Jeonju International Film Festival in celebration of Star Wars Day on May 4th. Star Wars Day, held annually on May 4th, is a worldwide event that originated from the pun "May the Fourth be with you," a play on the famous Star Wars line, "May the Force be with you."
This year, Star Wars fans can rejoice as the Jeonju International Film Festival, running from April 27 to May 6, will feature a variety of Star Wars content. Starting on April 28, the festival will showcase iconic movies and series, such as Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Star Wars: A New Hope, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and the first season of Star Wars: Visions. Additionally, the new animated series Star Wars: The Adventures of a Young Jedi will premiere on May 5, all of which will be screened at the 'Star Wars Dome.'
On May 4th, the festival will also hold a special screening of the second season of the short animation series Star Wars: Visions in honor of Star Wars Day. Star Wars: Visions is an anthology series featuring different scripts and directors for each episode.
During the event, James Waugh, Senior Vice President of Franchise Content & Strategy (SVP) at Lucasfilm, will appear in a special webinar session to discuss the production process of Star Wars: Visions Season 2 and the future direction of the Star Wars franchise. In addition, Studio Mir's director Park Hyung-geun and Art Director Kang Yu-tae, who worked on Star Wars: Visions Season 2 Episode 5, will join writer Jeong Se-rang in a live session to share behind-the-scenes stories and insights about the collaboration with Lucasfilm.
Furthermore, to celebrate Star Wars Day, members of the official Star Wars fan club '501 Legion & Rebel Legion' will take to the streets of downtown Jeonju on May 4th and 5th, parading in Star Wars costumes accompanied by marching band music. The 'Star Wars Dome' will also host a variety of programs for fans and visitors to enjoy, including life-size figure displays, fan collections, photo opportunities, and DJ-led fan events.
Star Wars has become one of the most successful media franchises in history since its debut in 1977, credited with pioneering the space opera genre and advancing film effect technology. All Star Wars movies, along with series like The Mandalorian, Andor, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, are available on Disney+.
